Marc Harrison - Husque Artist in Residence Bundaberg 2021
In May of 2021 I was invited along with two other local Bundaberg Artisans, to take part in a two week challenge with Artist in Residence Marc Harrison of Husque.
The challenge was to create saleable items from the waste product of the macadamia industry.
With the help of Macadamias Australia, we gathered leaves, tree prunings, nuts and ground shells and were given two weeks to come up with items that could be sold in their visitor centre.
My designs (as seen below) involved scanning and photographing the sliced macadamia wood and using the images to create surface designs for items such as scarfs, bags and prints. I also used wood offcuts to laser cut buttons and scarf rings.
