Leather-Bound Pocket Notebook Workshop
Bookbinding Workshop – Intermediate Level
Saturday May 9th
9am to 1:30pm
Create a small, timeless treasure — a hand-stitched leather notebook that’s both elegant and practical. In this 4–5 hour workshop, you’ll learn the traditional techniques of bookbinding to craft your own A6-sized notebook with a soft leather cover and fine-grain pages. Perfect to keep in your handbag or pocket, or as a meaningful handmade gift.
We’ll explore the fundamentals of traditional binding: preparing your pages, piercing signatures, and sewing them securely into a supple leather cover that will age beautifully with use. You’ll work with high-quality materials and learn the finer details that give handmade books their unique charm and durability.
Held at The Shed Studio, Wattle Cottage, Gillen’s Creek Garden (Alloway), the day unfolds in a calm, creative atmosphere surrounded by nature. You’ll be treated to homemade morning tea and barista coffee while enjoying the slow, rhythmic process of stitching and folding — a meditative act that connects hands, heart, and craft.
All tools and materials are supplied, and you’ll leave with a finished notebook ready to hold your sketches, notes, or reflections — a piece of functional art that carries your energy and intention within its pages.
Investment: $115 per person
All materials and refreshments included.
